Food and Beverage Companies/Brands Statistics and Facts 2019

 

Food and beverage companies are witnessing rapid growth as a result of rising demand for beverages, food products, dietary supplements, packaged ready-to-eat products, and pet food and feed. Currently, preference and popularity among consumers is based on more variety, healthier and better tasting foods and beverages, more organic ingredients and raw materials, better and more convenient packaging, and better value for money. Branding helps consumers to identify what they want to buy from store shelves as well as to differentiate between to the vast availability of varieties and ranges of products available on the shelf. Additionally, a brand description requires packaged food products to carry details regarding ingredients, formulas, recipes, packaging material, shelf-life, labeling, and clear quality specifications, and this is among the features enabling companies to gain traction in a highly competitive market.

Currently, various well-established companies and brands of food & beverage are available in the market. According to the 2018 Forbes Global 2000, Anheuser-Busch InBev, PepsiCo, Inc., and Nestlé S.A. are the top three companies in the food and beverages market. Other popular brands include JBS S.A., The Coca-Cola Company, Archer Daniels Midland Company, and Tyson Foods.

Anheuser-Busch InBev

Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV is a brewing company that is engaged in the production, sale, and distribution of alcoholic beverages, beer, and soft drinks. Anheuser-Busch InBev was established by the merger of InBev and Anheuser-Busch. The company is an international brewer, producing over 200 brands of beer globally. It is among the largest beer producers, offering brands including Budweiser, Corona or Stella Artois, and Michelob. The company is publicly listed, with its primary listing on the Euronext Brussels, and it has secondary listings on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, New York Stock Exchange, and Mexico City Stock Exchange.

PepsiCo, Inc.

PepsiCo, Inc. is a food and beverage company with a wide portfolio of brands, including Gatorade, Pepsi-Cola, Frito-Lay, Quaker, and Tropicana. The company manufactures, distributes, markets, and sell a variety of beverages, foods, and snacks and chocolate bars. It caters to consumers in more than 200 countries and territories.

Nestlé S.A

Nestlé S.A. is engaged in offering food and beverage products. The company offers around 8,000 brands along with an extensive range of products across various markets. Products include milkshakes, coffee, bottled water, infant foods, breakfast cereals, healthcare and performance nutrition, sauces and soups, frozen, seasonings, pet food, and refrigerated foods The maximum producing and earning brands of Nestle include Kit Kat, Nespresso, Nesquik, and Stouffer’s.

JBS S.A.

JBS S.A is among the largest food industries across the globe. It operates in processing of beef, sheep, pork, and chicken, as well as processes animal hides. The company sells hygiene and cleaning products, metal packaging, collagen, biodiesel, and others.  The company has distributed its businesses into three units such as JBS Foods, JBS Mercosul, and JBS USA, which includes cattle operations in the US, Canada, and Australia, pork and poultry in the US, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

In addition, Diet Coke has become the world’s top-selling diet cola, and the company is modernizing and re-energizing its Diet Coke brand for a new generation of drinkers, with a new look and more flavors.

Archer Daniels Midland Company

Archer Daniels-Midland company is a leading producer of various food and beverage ingredients, and products used in the agricultural sector. The company operates through four segments namely: Oilseeds, Origination, Nutrition, and Carbohydrate Solutions. The company offers various products such as natural colors and flavors, nutrition and health products, corn sweeteners, vegetable oils, flour, biofuels, and animal feed. The company has an extensive range of global grain elevator and a transportation networks in order to procure, clean, store, and transport agricultural products such as oilseeds, wheat, corn, milo, barley, and oats, as well as various derived products.

Tyson

Tyson Foods, Inc., along with its subsidiaries, operates as a food company across the globe. The company operates as the world’s and the US second-largest processor of chicken, beef, and pork. The company operates through four operating business segments namely: Beef, Pork, Chicken, and Prepared Foods.
