History:

1948: The Honda Motor Co., Ltd. was established and began manufacturing of bicycle auxiliary engines in a small factory in Hamamatsu, Japan

1949: First mass production of motorcycles started

1952: Began exporting motorcycles to Taiwan, followed by the Philippines and the US

1954: First entry into the overseas race and First Scooter Juno K-type was introduced

The company operates through four key business segments namely: Motorcycle Business, Automobile Business, Power Product and Other Businesses, and Financial Services Business

  1. Motorcycle Business – The company manufactures a range of motorcycles. Honda uses internal combustion motorcycle engines developed by the company that is based on air-or water-cooled, and are in two, single, four, or six-cylinder configurations. Honda’s motorcycle business consists of sports vehicles such as a range of off-road vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), trial and motocross racing, and side-by-side (SxS).
  2. Automobile Business – The company offers a wide range of engines such as gasoline-electric hybrid systems, gasoline-electric plug-in hybrid systems, and diesel engines. In addition, it offers alternative fuel-powered vehicles such as battery electric, fuel cell vehicles, and ethanol. Through its automobile business segment, the company offers products such as light trucks, mini vehicles, and passenger cars.
