The Sugar segment covers both production and refinement. It also includes divisions for agriculture, animal feed, and beet cultivation. CropEnergies makes bioethanol for fuel, protein and animal feeds as well as liquid carbon dioxide.

The Fruit segment handles fruit preparation and supplies fruit juice concentrates to the dairy, pastry, and beverage industries. The Special Products segment includes specialty ingredients that are used in food, feed, pharmaceuticals, and non-food applications. It also includes deep-frozen, chilled starch, and other starch products. The company was founded in Mannheim, Germany, on 26 April 1926.

Operational Capabilities

Suedzucker has a strong operational setup. As of February 2021, the company’s Sugar segment operates 23 factories and two refineries across Europe. Of which, are seven sugar factories in Germany, four factories in Poland, two each in Belgium, France, Austria, and the Czech Republic; one each in Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. In FY2021, the company processed 36 million tons of agricultural raw material that is grown on over 1 million hectares.
